  • Keep plated and filled items apart. GP, GF, HGE, EPNS and A1 marks all mean a coating over base metal, which is not bought as precious metal.
  • Do not clean or polish anything. On coins and collectible pieces it removes value, and on scrap it makes no difference to the weight.
  • Bring reports, certificates and receipts for stones and branded pieces. A GIA report in particular can turn a long inspection into a short conversation.
  • Sell in one visit where you can. Metals are quoted against the daily market, so a single valuation is cleaner than splitting a lot across several weeks.
